2011 saw the succesfful organization of Barcamp Kumasi, BarCamp Cape Coast, Barcamp Tamale, Barcamp Ho, and Barcamp Ghana 2011. 2011's regional barcamps brought together about 900 attendees as we continued building a network of Ghanaian change makers, doers, and entrepreneurs. We created communities to support these people centered around their localities. We debuted a successful speed mentoring session, created local blogs, oversaw the formation of a Google Technology User Group in Ho, amongst others.
Barcamp Ghana 2011 events are organized by the GhanaThink Foundation in conjunction with various local partners including Google Technology User Groups (GTUGs), local youth community groups, etc. They are held free of charge to attendees and sponsored by various foreign and local companies including Google, Vodafone, World Bank, Airtel, and venues like the Kofi Annan ICT Centre of Excellence, Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, Ashesi University, etc.
Through our events, we seek to highlight the importance of appropriate partnerships and corporate engagements in ensuring the success of projects, spurring wealth creation and economic growth. We will feature mentors who will shed light on how attendees can use successful partnerships and mentor support to scale up projects and businesses.
